Hi everyone -

Thank you for making your way to our fundraising page. We are running this year's NYC Marathon for Team LUNGevity in honor of our dad, Jack Rogers - more specifically, the 10th anniversary of his training for the same race. Most of you know our dad's story, but for those that don't, he fundraised, trained, and was ready to run for LUNGevity back in 2012, before Superstorm Sandy rocked the tri-state area and forced NYRR to cancel the event for the first time in its history. He did all of this through multiple rounds of chemo and radiation, numerous surgeries, and losing 1 1/2 of his lungs to late stage non-small cell lung cancer.

After tons of research on which organization he wanted to support, our dad found and took true inspiration from LUNGevity's mission, and was proud to run on their behalf. He wrote about his story and why he picked LUNGevity in a blog-post on their site in September of 2012, which you can read here. About 5 weeks after the marathon was cancelled Dad sadly passed with his bib unused - so we decided we would finish the race this year for him.

We're extremely grateful for all of your support - whether you run their 4 mile race with us every year in Central Park, donated to our dad's efforts 10 years ago, or if you're just learning about LUNGevity for the first time.

We got this!

Maggie & Jack Jr.

(in the spirit of true sibling rivalry, Mike finished the 2021 marathon, a year ahead of us, but is already contributing via training tips and heckling, the way that only an older brother could)

Over the last decade, our family has watched LUNGevity grow, drive change, and support lung cancer patients, survivors, caretakers, and families across the country.
