This fund is in memory of Diann Sulkala Ward.

In March 2022 Diann was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC). We learned it is one of the most aggressive types of cancer. 

Shortly after diagnosis we were connected with The LUNGevity Foundation.  We were introduced to a support person called a "Navigator".  Kristi met with us on a zoom call, she listened to our story with an open and caring heart. She supplied us with helpful information on probable next steps and what would be "coming down the line."  This was a journey in uncharted waters for our family and having a support person familiar with this road felt so comforting to us. What we soon realized is that after that zoom call, Kristi was going to support us every step of the way! She would often text or call just to check in and her perception of our situation was clear.  Her contact days were always the ones we needed a little lift.  

We are so grateful to have a foundation such as LUNGevity in existence to help us navigate every crossroad for both Diann as a patient and us as caregivers.

Proceeds from this tribute fund will benefit LUNGevity Foundation, the leading private provider of research funding for lung cancer. LUNGevity Foundation is firmly committed to making an immediate impact on increasing quality of life and survivorship of people with lung cancer by accelerating research into early detection and more effective treatments, as well as providing community, support, and education for all those affected by the disease.
