What is eRACE Lung Cancer?

LUNGevity Foundation's eRACE Lung Cancer is a month-long activity and fundraising challenge that brings together runners, walkers, swimmers, cyclists, and other participants of all abilities from across the country with one common goal: to erase lung cancer.

How does it work?

Participants set their mileage and fundraising goals for the 31-day challenge and log activities to reach their goals while raising funds and awareness to support life-saving lung cancer research and support services.

When does the race take place?

This year’s eRACE Lung Cancer is taking place during the month of May – Lung Cancer Hope Month! Set your mileage goal for the month and log your workouts from May 1-31. Complete your miles wherever and whenever you’d like. You’ll be moving at your own pace and in your own space, but you’ll be connected to a community that’s all about bringing positive change for people living with lung cancer.

How far is the race?

That’s your choice! Set a personal mileage goal for the month – it could be 5 miles, 15 miles, 50 miles, or even 100! Then log your miles (walk, run, swim, bike, or any activity of your choice) between May 1-31.

Is there a time limit?

No! You can complete your miles at any time of day, at any pace, and on any day(s) that you choose. Activities can be any duration. The only limit is your mileage, which will only be counted between May 1-31.

What if I want to do activities that aren’t based on mileage?

There are no rules! You can be as creative as you’d like with your activities and goals. To log any non-mileage workouts or activities you want to count towards your challenge goal, we recommend converting your activities into miles at a ratio that makes sense for you and your activities. For example, you can convert every 20 minutes of a non-mileage workout into 1 mile. Remember, it’s your own personal challenge, so it’s all about striving to reach whatever goals you choose.

Do I have to log my miles?

No, but we hope you will! Every mile logged shows the power of our community as we work to transform lung cancer. Plus, you can even receive donation pledges for the miles you log during the challenge, meaning that every mile logged is another step towards improving the lives of those living with lung cancer.

Can I log more than one type of activity?

Absolutely! Whatever activities you want to do, whether it is running, biking, swimming, or even walking the dog. You can mix it up every day or stick with your favorite activity, there are no rules for how you want to tackle the challenge.

How do I log my miles?

Log in to your participant page and click the “Activity Tracking” tab at the top of the page. From there, you can manually enter the miles you want to log or sync your activity from a fitness app, such as Strava, Fitbit, or Google Health.

Is fundraising required?

Fundraising is not required but strongly encouraged. The funds you raise through this program will help fund scientific research, educational materials, resources, and support services for those living with lung cancer.

Can I do eRACE Lung Cancer if I’m racing or training for something else?

Absolutely! eRACE Lung Cancer is an awesome way to meet your training goals and make an impact with your miles. If you’re already training, why not count those miles too? Every mile you want to count, counts!

Are there any prizes?

Yes! You’ll receive an exclusive eRACE Lung Cancer hat after you raise $50. Plus, if you complete our Champion’s Challenge, you’ll earn an additional eRACE Lung Cancer water bottle! Fundraisers who raise $500 or more will unlock special rewards at the completion of the challenge as well.
